Bumpin my Lil Brudda's new joint @LILBTHEBASEDGOD "I'm Gay" "3rd world countries ain't got sidewalks" #FreedomFromMentalSlavery

I'll stamp it now. "I'm Gay" is one of the best rap albums I heard in a looooong time. Some MFDoom x Ghostface x Kanye flava to it...

"Why he call his album that? And How the fuck he feel?, Bitch I do what I want!!! and the tracks is ill" Lil B hahaha and they are too!

I actually think callin his album "I'm Gay" is GENIUS & Revolutionary, the cover is Genius, some brave shit...AND he spittin REAL shit

Controversial, independent, fearless with a massive movement built off a crazy work ethic...sounds like #Winning to me. Why hate on that???

You new jacks should really be trying to learn from the Lil homey...I'm impressed with the hustle so salute to @LILBTHEBASEDGOD

Here's some new Lupe for you from Patrick Stump's new album Soul Punk
“This City” prominently features fellow Chicagoan Lupe Fiasco, and Stump said his relationship with the rapper goes back several years. “Before Food & Liquor came out he and I were talking about working on something together. I ended up producing the song ‘Little Weapon,’ for his The Coolrecord,” he said. “I actually wrote the hook for ‘This City’ with him in mind before I decided to use it for Soul Punk, so when the label asked me if I'd be interested in doing a remix with an MC he was the only real way I'd say yes.”

This isn't exactly Lupe related, but if you're in the New York area and have no plans tonight, then you should definitely check this out:
WHO: Forest Whitaker, The Roots, Van Jones, Shepard Fairey, and a VERY SPECIAL SECRET GUEST

WHAT: The Roots and Shepard Fairey will join Van Jones and MoveOn.org in New York City on June 23rd to kick off a major new economic campaign called, "Rebuild the Dream".

While big banks and other major corporations are once again thriving, countless Americans continue to face high unemployment, low wages, home foreclosures and little hope about their economic future. Meanwhile in Washington, the debate is not about jobs, but rather deficit reduction. The Rebuild the Dream campaign will promote an economic agenda to protect and expand America’s middle class. The campaign will harness the power of culture and technology to mobilize, organize and broaden the base of people committed to economic solutions that will work for the middle class, and all who aspire to belong to it.

The Roots and Shepard Fairey will join Van Jones on stage as Van lays out the new campaign.

WHEN: Thursday, June 23, 2011
Photo call: 7:00-8:00 PM
Event Begins at 8:00 PM

WHERE: Town Hall
123 West 43rd Street, New York

Complex names Lasers one of the 25 Best Albums of 2011 (So far)

7 comments:

Complex Magazine just compiled a list of what they think are the best albums of 2011 (so far). Lasers just happened to have made the list at #23, here's what they had to say:

Complex says: In juggling Atlantic Records' idea for a more commercially focused album, with his die hard fans' stubbornness for a follow-up to 2007's The Cool, Lupe delivered against hist greatest challenge yet.

His wordplay and double and triple entendres were ever present, and masterfully scattered throughout. With Lasers, Lupe proved taht he's a multi-dimensional artist skilled enough to bend and produce what is wanted, while carefully filling it with his own prescription of exactly what is needed.

Sure, Lu told us he hated the album, but then again, director Alan Parker once described Pink Floyd: The Wall as, "One of the most miserable experiences of my creative life." So it's just a reminder for us that maybe an artist isn't the best judge of their own work.

Russell Simmons x Lupe Fiasco discuss the difference between Osama and Obama [Part 2]

10 comments:

After part 1 yesterday, here's part 2 of Russell and Lupe's dialogue about America & Politics. Check an excerpt below:

Lupe: The only reason I agreed with Obama was because he was black but I had no any type of inkling that he would be any different from any politician for one he was trained in the Chicago machine which is the most corrupt political entity on Earth.

When you come down to the nuts and bolts we have two consecutive governors one is in prison right now the other they’re deliberating his future right now in one of the courts in Chicago and Obama comes from that world.

I already knew from stand up that it was basic politics but the only reason I agreed with it is because he was a black man. With him being a black man I immediately held him to a standard of other black presidents.

I immediately held him up to the standard of Robert Mugabe and the better which was Nelson Mandela. If you’re gonna be a black president and you’re gonna stand up for something and you’re gonna stand up for the oppression and the quiet oppression that exists in the U.S. then you need to be like Nelson Mandela.

Bill O'Reilly calls Lupe Fiasco a Pinhead

58 comments:

FOX News head of clowns Bill O'Reilly talked about Lupe on his show yesterday, while I didn't find a video of it yet, here's a transcript of what was said:

Pinheads & Patriots

You may remember the name Lupe Fiasco. I wish I had that name. He is a Chicago rapper who often says outrageous things like this:

LUPE FIASCO, RAPPER: "My fight against terrorism, to me the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America, you know."

"So for me it's like I'm trying to fight the terrorism that is actually causing the other forms of terrorism, you know. The root causes of the terrorism is the stuff that the U.S. government allows to happen, and the foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists."

Mr. Fiasco has been invited on "The Factor" but has declined, possibly because he could not possibly defend that remark, which makes him a pinhead. Now the reason I say I wish I was named Lupe Fiasco, wouldn't it be great, "The Fiasco Factor"? I mean, it would be tremendous.

UPDATE - Lupe responds via Twitter:

Whoa! I got invited to the O'reilly factor and turned it down??? Thats news to me...would NEVER turn down the opp to push billys buttons!

Lupe Fiasco is working on his fourth studio Album

21 comments:

Lupe talked to Billboard about the AT&T "Music For You" concert series and working on his 4th studio album 'Food & Liquor 2.' - Check an excerpt below:

While promoting "Lasers," months back, Lupe Fiasco expressed a slight distaste towards the album. Fiasco says he wasn't fully satisfied with the final product. "Me being an artist, I'm never happy with my work, because I don't ever think it's finished. It's hard for an artist to walk away from a piece and say, 'okay, that's done.'"

Lupe Fiasco is ready to move onto the next album though. Fiasco tells Billboard.com that he is currently in the studio working on his fourth studio album. While there's no official release date, Lupe Fiasco sounded optimistic. "It's really taking the lessons I learned from "Lasers," and applying that to "Food & Liquor." That's really it."

Prodigy agrees with Lupe Fiasco regarding Obama/Politics

16 comments:

Last week, rapper Lupe Fiasco told CBS News that he finds President Barack Obama to be "the biggest terrorist." The comment came as a shock to many. However, in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, Prodigy of Mobb Deep says he shares Lupe's sentiments.

"I would have to agree with him," Prodigy states in the upcoming interview. "Most of these politicians and these government officials…most of them are the real terrorists."

In the past, Prodigy has been known for inserting several references to the government and conspiracy theories in his rhymes. He explains to DX that during his time incarcerated, he kept up with politics and the ongoings of Obama's presidency.

"Yeah, I was definitely checking [Obama] out and seeing what he was doing and what he was about," the veteran rapper states. "But I already knew ahead of time – I’ve been studying all that type of stuff since like 15,16 years old, so… You can’t pull the wool over my eyes. I already know what time it is."

He goes on to say that Politics is misleading. "There’s nothing you can say to confuse me about any of that type of stuff. I know it’s all a game that they’re playing. It’s all a facade," he says.

Lupe Fiasco on calling Obama a Terrorist: 'I've Got Nothing to Clarify'

64 comments:

Lupe Fiasco caused a stir this week when he called President Barack Obama a terrorist during an appearance on CBS' "What's Trending." His exact words? "To me, the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America."

Billboard.com's The Juice has since caught up with the Chicago rapper to discuss the controversial interview, and it appears he's standing by his statement. "I've got nothing to clarify. It's Obama and the U.S. government," Lupe said, echoing his comments to CBS. "[It's] every president that came before him and every president that comes after him.

"It's funky because everybody's pulling soundbites from this one interview that we did, but they don't talk about anything else from the interview," he continued. "So it's really about, 'What do people want to listen to?' It's not what I want to talk about, cause I want to talk about all types of shit... there wasn't the same reaction about me having a book club... about me trying to promote literacy in a country with 50 million functioning illiterates walking around, because we have a failed and flawed education system."

Elaborating on another point from the interview that's raised ire -- that he doesn't vote in elections -- Lupe said his reasoning is simple. "Voting doesn't work, because everybody who voted, voted for the same people who are in office right now that are actually allowing these policies to go forward... You have to educate the populace -- the masses, the voters, the people who don't vote, the people who pay taxes."

"You have educate the masses to exactly what their tax dollars are going to pay for," Lupe continues. "I think once people educate themselves and open up their minds to understand that on that really basic level, then you'll have some type of change in the way that Americans associate themselves and participate in their own political process."

Speak your mind: What do you think about Lupe Fiasco's most recent Obama Statement?

100 comments:

We've posted the interview, which the CBS News show "Whats Trending" did with Lupe, on here yesterday (watch it again above.) In the interview he made a statement saying:

In my fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America. For me, I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s actually causing the other forms of terrorism.

The root cause of the terrorism is the stuff that you as a government allow to happen and the foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists.

Today a lot of websites put up an entry with the headline "Lupe Fiasco Says: Obama Is The Biggest Terrorist In America " and it's widely discussed on Twitter.

What do you think? Should artists talk about their political opinions, do you think Lupe is right with what he said or would you prefer if he'd keep his political opinions to himself? Let us know what you think but keep it peaceful.

Complex previews Big Sean x Lupe Fiasco Collabo

Complex listened to Big Sean's upcoming album 'Finally Famous' which drops June 28th. Here's what they said about "Wait For Me" ft. Lupe:

Sean hooks up with Lupe and hopes he’s not too late for the good things in life. He rhymes about, “Riding in a Chevy that should’ve been a Mercedes.”

We’re sure Joell Ortiz could relate. Meanwhile, Lupe swings by and rhymes about how they’re both from different cities, but their chains are from Japan.

Hey, at least they have something in common.

Here's a pic of Lupe at the set of the video shoot for 'Out Of My Head.' Besides it taking place on a rooftop in LA I can also tell you that there have been quite some models at the shoot including Brittany Noelle, Imani Rose, Carla Howe, Nichelle and Deanna.

Can't wait to find out what type of storyline the video has.
