ReplyDeleteI think his mom isn't muslim, he never really spoke of his mom being muslim, so I highly doubt she is. His dad was muslim, he was raised a muslim by his dad. May Allah have mercy and forgiveness for his father, and may he be granted Jannah. InshAllah, until then, RIP poppa Jaco.

Where I come from, if anyone who isn't a muslim wants to marry a Muslim, he/ she must convert to Islam in order to marry a Muslim,if the above statement is true, how could lupe's mum not be a Muslim? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteIslam is actually allows marriage between muslims and other members of Abrahamic faiths (Judism and Christianity. So as long as the person is Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, they can marry a muslim. Also, all marriages are considered legitimate under islamic law so if one partner decides to convert to islam and the other doesn't, their marriage is still viewed as righteous and islamic and the non-muslim partner can identify as whatever faith he/she wants. some muslims do have personal preferences to only marry other muslims though. Hope that clears things up :)

DeleteWhat that anon said is correct regarding inter-marriage between the other Abrahamic Faiths in Islam. But this is only applicable for men, because children are to take the religion of the father.
