  2. The proper way to describe the women's body part that lupe repeatedly denounced is called BREAST. As smart as lupe considers himself to be, he should know better than to use such a degrading word towards a women's body part. I'm a female and I personally find that term disrespectful and degrading at all cost. SHAME on lupe, he should know better than that!

  3. I'm a female myself, but what I don't understand is when some women want respect, yet they don't respect themselves. Some women go around saying "wat he think he lookin @,Dam pervert!!!" ur the 1 who gave em somthin 2 look @ in the 1st place!

  6. Anon 3, thats like saying victims of rape should be blame because they wear sexy clothes that seduce men...when the rapers are at fault cause they can't control themselves.. Women can wear whatever they want to feel good about themselves. It's their right.

  7. @Anon 2.. Im a women too and I agree with you. the word "titties" is a patriarchial word... just like the word "pussy" (which I've also heard him use) and I reject both. Especially since Lu has a lot of influence, he should be careful not to use degrading and offensive language.. although I doubt that was his intention.

@Anon 3 .. although I personally adere to dressing modestly (I wear a hijab in my everyday life), but I think we should be careful not judge other women that chose not to dress modestly as (like the anon above me mentioned) it can (in extreme cases) lead to victim blaming for rape victims. A women's choice to dress a certain way does not excuse a man from taking advantage of her.

  9. So ur telling me the only way to feel good about ur self is havin ur breast & ur ass hangin out??? Women demand respect but they don't show that they deserve it. So when u see a male drooling all over u is that wat makes u feel good about urself?! If dressing "sexy" (showing everything u got) is wat makes u feel good about urself then u prob have some issues.

  10. For those interested..

The etymological breakdown of the word "tits" or "titties" (variant of "teat"):

1540s, "any small animal or object" (as in compound forms such as titmouse, tomtit, etc.); also used of small horses. Similar words in related senses are found in Scandinavian (cf. Icel. tittr, Norw. tita "a little bird"), but the connection and origin are obscure; perhaps, as OED suggests, the word is merely suggestive of something small. Used figuratively of persons after 1734, but earlier for "a girl or young woman," usually in deprecatory sense of "a hussy, minx" (1590s).

... so the word is indicative of something 1. objectified 2. animalistic 3. degrogatory in that it was historically used to describe women who were precieved to be "impudent" or "immoral" (def. of "hussy")

Etymological frameworks are important when deconstructing our usage of language and language/rhetoric shapes our ideology so its imperative we consider its origins.

I just thought I'd share that for those who are not absolutely REPLUSED by Lupe's use of this word.Hopefully this has changed you minds.

We women need to recognize that our bodies have been colonized and commodified in this society so severly that we have internalized these masogenistic dipictions of us.

Dear sisters, honor yourselves and don't use the media as a reference point for the image of your own body. They will distort our mirrors until we purchase their distored brand of beauty at the price of our souls.

  14. I'm anon 6 , in response to anon 9 .... Well, I did not say It's THE ONLY WAY that woman can feel good ant themselves.. Some woman wear modest clothings if that makes them feel good about themselves. My point is, who are you to control what women wants to wear? Who are u to judge...there's a lot of ways for women to gain respect, even if she wears sexy clothes, but she's a very knowledgeable person and have the brains, earn her money through hard work, and has a successful life... Hell yeah she deserves all the respect. She could also have a good heart, doing all the charity work, maybe she likes to wear sexy clothing, so what? Judging a women from her clothing, mentioning that she purposely want to make men drool is simple minded and superficial at best. She likes to wear them and if that makes her happy, why not?

  15. All those complaining about him using the word tit, it really isn't a big deal. Words are not inherently bad, it's the context in which we use them. Lupe respects women, as shown through his music, so it shouldn't matter. Like if black people say nigger, it's okay because we know they're not racist. Watch George Carlin talk about, he explains it perfectly. Stop focusing on specific words and focus on the complete message.

  16. Women dress a certain way, men like the way the women looks in said clothing, that attracts un/warranted attention. I don't understand how some of you walk around with your breasts *rolling eyes* half exposed and get offended when men look. I'm sorry, I'll just remove all sexual urges from my genetic makeup. Aren't there more important issues you could be fighting over?
