Yeeeaaah boiiii!
ReplyDeleteDOPE!!!
ReplyDeleteLupe's best video to me.
Reminiscent of The Roots "What They Do"...
ReplyDeleteI'm Beamin' is Lu's best video IMO...
ReplyDeleteHaha the ending
ReplyDeleteAyo I seen that gator lookin nigga with the dro before on madison. That scale ass owes me money.
ReplyDeleteMy new fav lupe video...
ReplyDeleteAnd does anyone want to break down the symbolism?
Lupe is fresher than everybody SWAG
ReplyDeletecan somebody please break down the symbolism...the eyes the characters even the necklace there was one as a a cross and he muslim..whats behind this?
ReplyDeleteWhat do the eyes represent?
ReplyDeleteToo much going on in this video for people to break it down right away. It'll take several watches in order to piece everything together guys.
ReplyDelete#bepatient
GOAT VIDEO!!!
ReplyDelete"Her eyes glow green with the logo of our dreams
ReplyDeleteThe purpose of our scene,
The obscene obsession for the bling"
to the people asking about the cross. It doesn't mean anything. He wears rosaries all the time. And they are a catholic religious piece.
ReplyDeleteMuslims also have rosaries.. there is something deeper in the symbolism of this video... as he doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, he doesn't wear crosses... we needa do some research on what everything means
DeleteFreshest video ever.
ReplyDeleteLu killed this.
ReplyDeleteLupe's style is all ways dope
ReplyDeletei think the wearing of the cross/diamond chains and watch + lu drinking beer + driving the rented car = the chorus. bunch of bullshit that other rappers do, which floods the radio and tv.
ReplyDeleteim not sure if this is part of it, but the image freezes momentarily on the beer and also whenever the jewelery is put on.
anyway DOPE video. love it.
Did Lu just take a gulp of beer?
ReplyDeleteRap video of the year for sure!
ReplyDeleteLupe was parodying all the ignorant things that people do these days
ReplyDeletePerhaps the best music video featuring Chicago ever? Discuss.
ReplyDeleteI think symbolism in this clip is about fake and control
ReplyDeleteThey emphasized the fact that the car was rented. I think this symbolizes the fake nature of mainstream rap videos (That is the part that isnt normally seen). Also, the cartoon characters would represent all of those randoms in the background smoking weed and what not.
ReplyDeleteYo... those eyes @______@ lol
ReplyDeleteRAIDEN.....WINS!
ReplyDeleteThe video freezes several times in black and white throughout the video. I think that's where Lu is emphasizing the stereotypical ignorant shit a lot of rappers do in their music videos.
ReplyDeleteDo not like the eyes at all. Everything else in the video I might try to interpret : /
ReplyDelete"Exotic Car Rentals"
ReplyDeleteha! nice touch Lu
Lupe doesn't wear rosaries all the time. The chain he wears resembles one but does not have a cross at the end its the trilly and truly symbol.
ReplyDeleteHot. The music, the saxophone, and specially....LU!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are increasingly judgmental & superstitious lol. Anyway, this video is dope!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lu... you definitely looking like Raiden with those eyes. Ha. That's to represent him seeing the real world of rap that others don't/can't which is why he sees those cartoon goons instead of real ones. EVERYTHING'S FAKE. The chain. The car. The drugs. FALLACY OF RAPPERS.
Really first view n I understood wat Lu was trying to say WOW! perfectly portrayed MIND BLOWN!
ReplyDeletepeople!!!!! The bottle, which he took a very different ... look at the cover!:D
ReplyDeleteMuslims use things like rosaries also
ReplyDeleteGotta love zombie-lupe hahaha and the fact that the lambos a rental such a strong message. Loved this vid.
ReplyDeleteDamn super dope. Lupe killing it. Video makes the song, and the song makes the video. The need to invent a new type of word for swag to describe this.
ReplyDeletethis video is dope as fuck. I swear on everything that a few weeks ago i was thinking some rapper should do the "Raiden" eyes there video. Just a great song and great video.
ReplyDeleteAnd.....Lu sold out.
ReplyDelete^ and . . . your an Idiot
ReplyDeleteOk, even though I personally understand the satire and social commentary that Lupe conveying in this video (about the cliques and materialistic trends in mainstream rap today.), sadly though, I DON'T feel that the satire was conveyed well enough.
ReplyDeleteBy that, I mean that I don't feel that most ppl are going to understand the fact that the things conveyed in this video is NOT suppose to be praised or applauded.
In fact, I feel people will mistake this as a glorification of said rap cliches, rather than social commentary against it.
This, IMO, is an example of the satire being so SPOT-ON, that it doesn't feel its being satirical (Kinda like the later seasons of the Boondocks >__>).
And I personally don't have fate in most listeners in the mainstream hip-hop/rap (or music in general) to ACTUALLY give a damn about listening to the lyrics (JUST LOOK AT THE STUFF THAT TOPS THE CHARTS, DO YOU THINK PEOPLE REALLY FOCUS ON LYRICS???? F*** NO!!!!)
So because of that, I REALLY wouldn't be surprised if people like this video (and vote for it on *cringe* 106&Park *shutter*) ONLY because he:
1.)Had a nice car/jewelry in the video.
2.)Sampled T.R.O.Y.
or 3.)Because they think that animated characters are suppose to be glorification of rap/hood stereotypes (Like how people like to wear "Ghetto-fied" clothes of real cartoon characters, like the Loony Tunes or SpongeBob."
So yea, I understand the themes of this video, but sadly, i DON'T have faith in the masses comprehending it, quite honestly = / *shrugs*
Killer Mike was right, Lupe fans are elitists. Example: Above comment.
ReplyDelete^Yo
ReplyDeleteDude just stated his opinion. Don't compare everyone else who's a LF fan to him.
^^^ Exactly, just as this Anony said, it is just that MY OPINION.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem if people disagree with me. Just giving my interpretation of the video in question.
And isn't that the point of the comment sections of this blog, to discuss and give different POV?
I'm sorry if I'm not being just a ditto head who giving a thumbs up to everything thrown my way. Or conversely, a naysayer who just hates everything.
So if me thinking more critically (and more broadly about grand scheme of things) makes me an "elitist", then so be it, bruh >__>.
Nobody realized he's driving a white Lamborghini and his next song is "Lamborghini Angels" the symbolism is too deep. Lupe Fiasco has been going over heads from 2002-2012
ReplyDelete@Mike: Exactly, FNF UP!!!!!!
ReplyDelete*_*.............I love Lupe and will always support him. Yet I haven't been feeling it since 2008. Maybe I've just gotten old.
ReplyDeleteIt's me again. Like the cartoons in the back......while I'm sure they have meaning they don't fit into the video. Just all the elements of the video don't mesh. Where is soundtrack? In my mind there cannot be a Lupe single without soundtrack. We'll see. I will forever be in love with the first "Food and Liquour". That was the most brilliant album of the decade.
ReplyDeleteLike, Lupe's videos can still be brilliantly cryptic and aesthetically pleasing. That's what I'm trying to say. I know there's meaning in the videos visuals but they're not fun to look at.
ReplyDelete@LPofTheShadows. I agree.
